“Shut up. We’re paid to get you out of here, not talk,” a Marine said.
After driving for a few minutes, one Marine asked the other if he thought someone was tailing them.
“Nah, we’re in the clear,” the Marine in the passenger seat said. “Hey, Johnson, is it true what they say? You did biological warfare experiments on people? Not like it makes a difference to us.”
“The homeless aren’t people,” Johnson said.
“Man, that’s cold-blooded. We’re almost there,” the driver said.

This creates a bit of a moral dilemma for me. My first impulse is to laugh and to not mind that they pulled a little prank on this hideous excuse for a human – a prank that did not even involve any physical abuse, or verbal demeaning dialogue.
In a way, it was far less harsh on him, than the intense fear, anxiety and anticipation of what was to come, had he known – the price of his actions, for which he displayed ZERO remorse or concern for his innocent victims, not a nano-ounce of compassion, and didn’t even consider them to be “people”.
I can also grasp the spiritual implications of their actions, after reading many of the arguments on the other side of the issues. True. Had he known he was being executed, MAYBE he could have repented. However, I would also venture to suggest that had he known what was coming, he was so arrogant that he still never would have repented, but would have remained defiant and unremorseful to the bitter end, for all his vile crimes against his unfortunate victims, until every last one had died a nightmarish, torturous death – whose suffering he took pleasure in watching.
He believed, in his twisted mind, that they were completely disposable. He himself was barely human, judging by the complete disdain he held for the downtrodden souls in his laboratory experiments. They were nothing more than lab rats to him, and he enjoyed watching their suffering. A truly evil being. I would have more compassion for lab rats than he did for those sad, unfortunate human beings.
I do have a small bit of remorse for accepting (even slightly enjoying) and finding humor in the lighthearted pranks of these young men and for not acknowledging the solumn event for what it was. I also contend that he suffered far less by NOT knowing where he was headed. His demise was far more humane than the ones afforded to his helpless victims. I would struggle to muster much sympathy for him – Lord, forgive me.
