He added that the first thing Union troops noticed was that the ignition was running on two of the three vehicles. The pelting rain and whipping winds interfered with their parabolic listening equipment, and their thermal imaging device malfunctioned.
The answer to whether the trucks were occupied materialized while they discretely observed through binoculars. A window had opened a crack, and the driver had flicked a cigarette butt out the window. The Red and White Hats debated whether to storm the armored trucks, but decided the situation mandated prudence since they had no idea if the rear compartments were brimming with armed agents. If they were, the cloistered interior would have been quite uncomfortable. Federal emergency response workers operating in North Carolina’s Rutherford County in the aftermath of Hurricane Helene were told to evacuate on Saturday over concerns that an “armed militia” was threatening workers in the area, it has been reported.
An official with the U.S. Forest Service, which is supporting recovery efforts along with the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), sent an message to numerous federal agencies at around 1 p.m. on Saturday warning that FEMA has advised all federal responders in Rutherford County to “stand down and evacuate the county immediately,” The Washington Post reported.
National Guard troops had come across two trucks of “armed militia saying they were out hunting FEMA,” the email said. “The IMTs [incident management teams] have been notified and are coordinating the evacuation of all assigned personnel in that county.”

My guess is the sales tax will go down in flames BUT once they’ve pushed thru Rank Choice will only be one more election cycle before Dems get their tax increase. OR is already retiree unfriendly and everyone I know worries they won’t be able to hold out much longer financially. It’ll be the final straw for many, perhaps myself included…
